South MacDill restaurant, bar and arcade from a Tampa hospitality group. Publishes Bucs and Gators schedules, NFL and college football all season, and Premier League on weekends. Says it has 80 TVs.

220 East

Davis Islands · new american, seafood, pizza

220 East sits on Davis Boulevard in the small village strip at the top of Davis Islands, and its own site calls it a locally owned American kitchen 24 years strong. The menu runs wider than most neighbourhood rooms: shrimp and grits, a hand-cut New York strip, pizzas including a dill-pickle one the site tells you to trust it on, and a weekend brunch with chicken and waffles. Its Cuban sandwich is built on Cuban bread from La Segunda, which it names on the menu. Several dishes are marked GF on the menu itself.

7th + Grove

Ybor City · southern, caribbean, guyanese

7th + Grove sits on East Seventh Avenue in Ybor City and describes itself as the flagship of the 7th + Grove Hospitality group. The cooking is Southern comfort food crossed with Guyanese flavours, served with what the site calls creatively crafted cocktails, and the room runs late on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It is one of the Ybor rooms Creative Loafing Tampa Bay lists among Tampa Bay's restaurants, and it leans into events... a Saturday day party with hookahs and small bites, NFL Sundays, private parties and catering.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

Al's Finger Licking Good Bar-B-Que & Soul Food

Ybor City · $ · bbq, southern, soul food

Al's cooks Tennessee-style barbecue in Ybor City, dry-rubbed ribs smoked over wood with a tomato-based sauce, and it has won best barbecue in Tampa more times than anyone bothers to count. The food is family food in the literal sense, with dishes on the menu named for the people they came from ... Uncle John's smoked sausage, Aunt Nita's black eyed peas, Sparky's pulled pork, Mazie's serve-it-up yellow rice and chicken. The business started as a concession stand in 2003 and became a sit-down restaurant in 2009, and it now runs barbecue and soul food out of one address on East Seventh Avenue after folding the two shops together.

Babushka's Temple Terrace

Temple Terrace · russian, ukrainian, eastern european

Babushka's started in 2018 because a Russian international student at USF noticed that Eastern European food was missing from a city that had almost every other cuisine, and talked his family into opening a restaurant. The name is the Russian word for grandmother, chosen because, as the restaurant puts it, 'in most families back in Eastern Europe, Babushka is usually a person who cooks the best food.' The kitchen runs borscht, pierogi, piroshki, sweet and savoury blinchiki and a homemade honey cake, and there is a kids' menu and a bar menu alongside the main one. The Temple Terrace room on N 56th Street is a short drive from the USF campus where the idea started.

Bhimavaram Ruchulu Indian Cuisine

Temple Terrace · indian, andhra, south indian, telugu, biryani

Bhimavaram is a city in Andhra Pradesh with one of India's more serious cooking traditions, and ruchulu is Telugu for tastes, so the name on the Temple Terrace storefront is a promise about where the food comes from. The kitchen cooks Telugu and South Indian food rather than the northern menu most American Indian restaurants default to: mutton ghee roast pulav, ulavacharu chicken, Hyderabadi biryanis and a long list of non-vegetarian appetisers. That's So Tampa called it a cult favourite that built its following quietly on N 56th Street, and in July 2026 the restaurant opened a second location in Lutz because, as it put it, the customers brought them there.

Phoenix Lebanese Restaurant

Temple Terrace · lebanese, middle eastern

Phoenix opened on N 56th Street in Temple Terrace in early 2025 cooking Lebanese breakfast and brunch, which is a rarer thing in Tampa than Lebanese dinner. The kitchen works saj bread on a domed griddle, thin and crisp, filled with cheese and topped with za'atar, and serves it with a house Mosaic Hummus; the same bread carries their Lebanese-style pizza. Balila, slow-cooked chickpeas with olive oil, lemon, garlic and cumin finished with pine nuts and parsley, is the heartiest thing on the menu, and the shakshuka is seasoned their own way. The owners make a point of the coffee: in Lebanon, they told That's So Tampa, offering a guest a freshly brewed cup is a ritual of friendship and respect, and they keep it.

Ramallah Market

Temple Terrace · palestinian, middle eastern, bakery

Ramallah Market has anchored N 56th Street in Temple Terrace for years as a Middle Eastern grocery with its own in-store bakery, turning out knafeh, baklava and ma'amoul alongside fresh produce and spices. In May 2026 the family that runs it opened a cafe inside the shop called Sufrat Ramallah, which translates as the table of Ramallah, serving a full traditional Palestinian breakfast spread with ingredients imported from Palestine and homemade halal dishes. The coffee comes from Barakah Beans, an Orlando Arabic coffee brand, pouring pistachio and Dubai chocolate lattes. The market's own site describes the whole thing as 'a story of tradition, family, and delicious Middle Eastern flavors.'

TacoSon Mexican Grill

Temple Terrace · mexican, sonoran, tacos

TacoSon cooks the food of Sonora, in northern Mexico, out of a small storefront on N 56th Street, and it opens at 7am six days a week, which is earlier than almost any taqueria in the city. Creative Loafing put it on its list of classic Tampa restaurants and described it as a family owned restaurant 'serving up authentic dishes inspired by life back in Sonora, Mexico.' The burrito panzon and the tres leches cake are the two things the restaurant puts on its own front page.

Uncle Fat's Tavern

Temple Terrace

A Temple Terrace bar and grill that says it has served the area for over 35 years. Its own site promotes Sunday NFL viewing parties, with trivia Monday, bingo Tuesday and karaoke Wednesday to Saturday.
