7th + Grove

Ybor City · southern, caribbean, guyanese

7th + Grove sits on East Seventh Avenue in Ybor City and describes itself as the flagship of the 7th + Grove Hospitality group. Al's Finger Licking Good Bar-B-Que & Soul Food

Ybor City · $ · bbq, southern, soul food

Alessi Bakery

Midtown Tampa · italian, cuban, bakery, sandwiches

Alessi has been baking in Tampa since 1912, working from 'family recipes passed down through four generations'. It is a Sicilian bakery that grew up alongside the Cuban and Spanish bakeries of West Tampa and Ybor, and it sells both traditions ... Italian pastries and cannoli on one side, fresh Cuban bread and scachatta on the other, plus a deli counter, custom cake studio and rotisserie chicken. The business has moved into a single new building on West Cypress Street that puts the bakery, cake studio, deli and cafe 'under one roof'.

Angry Chair Brewing

Seminole Heights

Angry Chair is a Seminole Heights brewery known well beyond Tampa for big pastry stouts, but its own line about itself is about the name: everybody has an angry chair, work or traffic or whatever, and the beer is the getting away from it. The brewery says it does not always brew to style and calls its beers forward thinking, then notes drily that it won a gold medal for its pilsner, so it can follow the rules if it wants to. The taproom is on North Florida Avenue, has its own food menu and takes private event bookings.

Armature Works

Tampa Heights · food hall

Armature Works is a 1910 streetcar barn on the Hillsborough River in Tampa Heights, rebuilt into the Heights Public Market with close to twenty independent food counters under one roof. Above the market are private event rooms and Rooftop 220, which looks back at the downtown skyline. The lawn outside it runs down to the Riverwalk, and Creative Loafing lists it as a kid stop for the giant chess boards and the family events it runs through the week. Chill Bros keeps an ice cream counter inside.

Ash

Downtown · $$ · italian

Ash is the modern Italian room chef Ferrell Alvarez and Chon Nguyen's Proper House Group opened in Water Street Tampa. Alvarez sums up the room as fancy, but approachable fancy: pasta made in house, ingredients sourced close, happy hour from 5 to 7 every night and walk-ins always welcome. The signature plate is the lumache alla vodka with guanciale and parmesan, which the kitchen says is the most requested dish on the menu. Private dining runs from a chef's table for four up to a full buyout, and the site points out it is a short walk from the arena and a reasonable option before a show at the Straz Center.

Babushka's Temple Terrace

Temple Terrace · russian, ukrainian, eastern european

Babushka's started in 2018 because a Russian international student at USF noticed that Eastern European food was missing from a city that had almost every other cuisine, and talked his family into opening a restaurant. The name is the Russian word for grandmother, chosen because, as the restaurant puts it, 'in most families back in Eastern Europe, Babushka is usually a person who cooks the best food.' The kitchen runs borscht, pierogi, piroshki, sweet and savoury blinchiki and a homemade honey cake, and there is a kids' menu and a bar menu alongside the main one. The Temple Terrace room on N 56th Street is a short drive from the USF campus where the idea started.

Bad Monkey Ybor

Ybor City

Military-themed bar on 7th Ave in Ybor. Its home page calls it the Sports HQ and posts weekend slates for FSU, college football and the Bucs, plus Rays playoff games. Happy hour runs Monday to Friday, 3 to 6 pm.

Open late. Go earlier if you want a calmer room.

Bake'n Babes

Davis Islands · bakery, desserts

Bake'n Babes is the dessert counter on the Davis Islands village strip, a few doors from 220 East. It is built around oversized cookies, over-the-top milkshakes and a triple-layer item it has trademarked as the Sleazy Brownie. Flavours named on its own front page include Fruity Pebbles, Nutella-stuffed chocolate chip and plain chocolate chip. It stays open to 10 or 11 at night, which on Davis Islands makes it the after-dinner stop.

Bamboozle Channelside

Channel District · vietnamese, southeast asian

Bamboozle is the Vietnamese counter downtown office workers have used for lunch for years, now in the Channel District on 12th Street. The kitchen works banh mi, rice bowls and noodle plates and describes its own line of work as bamboozling customers into healthier living for over fourteen years. A second location, Bamboozle Heights, sits up N Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights.

Bar Terroir

Palma Ceia · french

Bar Terroir is a French bistro and wine bar on Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa that opened in 2025 and calls itself 'a francophiles' celebration of french cooking and service'. Press in the area has described the cooking as French-ish rather than strictly classical. It entered the MICHELIN Guide for the first time in the 2026 Florida selection as a Recommended restaurant, one of four Tampa additions that year.

BarrieHaus Beer Co.

Ybor City

BarrieHaus is a lager house in Ybor City built on a family brewing line the owners trace back 150 years, and it pours many of its beers through Czech side pull faucets imported from the Czech Republic. The 5,000 square foot space holds a wrap around copper bartop, an indoor taproom, a small room they call the Den and an outdoor Biergarten. Its Vienna lager Family Tradition took a 2022 World Beer Cup gold and the Czech-style pilsner Bublina took another in 2024. Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome outside.

Bavaro's Pizza Napoletana & Pastaria

Downtown · neapolitan pizza, italian

Dan Bavaro opened the first Bavaro's in Tampa in March 2009, and the room on Franklin Street is the one the group prints as its Tampa address. The kitchen calls itself Florida's first traditional Neapolitan pizzeria and works from wood-fired brick ovens built by third-generation Neapolitan craftsmen, a hundred-year-old yeast culture, century-old recipes and ingredients brought in from Italy. Pasta is the other half of the name, which is where the Pastaria comes from.

Bel Mar Saloon

A South Tampa neighborhood bar and grill. Its homepage says to catch all the games on over 20 TVs, and its Instagram bio lists happy hour Monday to Friday, 11 AM to 6 PM.

Bella's Italian Cafe

SoHo · $$$ · italian

Bella's opened on South Howard in 1986, when Bill Shumate and Joanie Corneil set out to give Tampa authentic Italian cooking, and its own site now counts 40 years of service. Shumate had run restaurants around the country since 1964 and served as president of the Florida Restaurant Association and chairman of its Hillsborough County chapter. Corneil came to the partnership having run two of her own places in Oklahoma. The restaurant sells its own cookbook, which is the sort of thing only a kitchen with a long back catalogue bothers to do.

Bern's Steak House

SoHo · steak, new american

Bern's Steak House has been on South Howard Avenue since 1956, built out by Bern and Gert with their own craftspeople from what the restaurant's own history calls 'an ordinary business block on Howard Avenue, containing a grocery, barber shop and dime store'. The wine list runs to more than half a million bottles across 6,500 labels, kept in a 50-degree working cellar on site and a temperature-controlled warehouse, and the programme won the 2016 James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine Program. Dessert moves upstairs to the Harry Waugh Dessert Room, which keeps its own wine list. It is a MICHELIN Recommended restaurant in the 2026 Florida selection.

Bernini of Ybor

Ybor City · italian, seafood

Owner Jason Fernandez is a fourth generation Tampa native who runs the Historic Hospitality group in Ybor City and got his first restaurant lessons from his neighbour Adela Gonzmart of the Columbia. His great-grandfather Jesus Fernandez tended bar in Tampa in the early 1900s. Fernandez went away to work with Ella Brennan at Commander's Palace in New Orleans and later with Wolfgang Puck before coming home to Ybor.

Bhimavaram Ruchulu Indian Cuisine

Temple Terrace · indian, andhra, south indian, telugu, biryani

Bhimavaram is a city in Andhra Pradesh with one of India's more serious cooking traditions, and ruchulu is Telugu for tastes, so the name on the Temple Terrace storefront is a promise about where the food comes from. The kitchen cooks Telugu and South Indian food rather than the northern menu most American Indian restaurants default to: mutton ghee roast pulav, ulavacharu chicken, Hyderabadi biryanis and a long list of non-vegetarian appetisers. That's So Tampa called it a cult favourite that built its following quietly on N 56th Street, and in July 2026 the restaurant opened a second location in Lutz because, as it put it, the customers brought them there.

Big John's Alabama BBQ

East Tampa · $ · bbq, southern

Big John's Alabama BBQ has been on 40th Street North in East Tampa since 1968, when the late Rev. John A. Stephens, known as Big John, opened it after moving to Tampa from Eufaula, Alabama with his family. Its own biography page says he came to the area with goals of being an entrepreneur but most importantly a man of God, and that the Tampa Tribune and other outlets recognised his contributions to the community. The restaurant still cooks on an open pit, a technique it says it has kept for over 40 years, and it took Steve Harvey's Hoodie Award for Best Barbeque Restaurant in 2007. His son Fred Stephens keeps the business going, and his widow Sallie Stephens and their children marked a grand re-opening.

Big Ray's Fish Camp

Ballast Point & Interbay · seafood

Big Ray's Fish Camp is a small seafood counter on Interbay Boulevard in South Tampa. Chef Raymond 'Nick' Cruz traces it back to Ballast Point Pier, a few minutes away: his own site says 'spending countless summer days fishing, cleaning, and cooking said fish on the line, would eventually turn into a personal passion to serve the best and freshest seafood in South Tampa.' It has been a MICHELIN Recommended restaurant since the 2025 Florida selection and kept that place in 2026.

Bistro BT

Westshore · french, vietnamese

Bistro BT is the casual neighbourhood half of chef BT Nguyen's pair of Tampa restaurants, on Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa. The menu sets French classics such as coq au vin and duck confit next to Vietnamese bun, pho and banh mi. Nguyen's cooking started in Vietnam, where the restaurant's own history says she 'spent hours in her family's kitchen, watching her relatives prepare the simple yet elegant dishes' that became the restaurant's food, and her work has been covered by Bon Appetit, Travel & Leisure and Food Network's Emeril's Florida. It has been in the MICHELIN Guide since 2022 and is Recommended in the 2026 Florida selection.

Blind Tiger Cafe

Ybor City · $ · coffee, sandwiches, bakery

Blind Tiger is a Tampa coffee roaster with cafes around the city, roasting since 2014. The Ybor City room on East 7th Avenue is the one most visitors meet, and there are others in Seminole Heights on North Florida Avenue and in Westchase on Montague Street. Visit Tampa Bay lists it on its plant-based guide for the vegetarian sandwiches and vegan desserts that sit alongside the coffee, which makes it one of the few Tampa places open from half past seven in the morning with something for a vegan to eat.

Brocato's Sandwich Shop

East Tampa · cuban, italian, sandwiches

Brocato's opened in 1948 and has worked its way through three businesses in the same family: grocery store, then meat market, then sandwich shop. Its own site puts the arithmetic plainly, that nearly eighty years later 'countless restaurants, diners and sandwich shops have come and gone' and Brocato's has not. The counter is known for the Tampa trinity of Cuban sandwiches, deviled crabs and stuffed potatoes. It sits on East Columbus Drive in East Tampa, closes at 5:30 in the afternoon and is shut on Sundays, which tells you it is a working lunch counter rather than a destination restaurant.

Buddy Brew Coffee (Kennedy)

SoHo · coffee

Buddy Brew is Tampa's own specialty roaster and the Kennedy Boulevard cafe is its flagship. The Labrador retriever in the logo was a real dog called Buddy, who the company says kept watch over the small Diedrich roaster it used in its early days. It sums its position up as coffee that is not about edginess or snobbiness. There are now eight cafes across Tampa Bay, two more of them in this sector: Hyde Park Village on Snow Avenue and one on Bay to Bay Boulevard.

Cafe Hey

Tampa Heights · $ · sandwiches, coffee, breakfast

Cafe Hey is the small coffee and sandwich room on North Franklin Street that Tampa Heights has used for years, and Creative Loafing calls it a Tampa Heights staple. It runs a vegan brunch every Sunday until it sells out, which sits oddly and happily next to a menu of meaty sandwiches. Thursday night is open mic, and the bill is musicians, comedians, poets and whoever else signs up.

This is a music venue. It is loud when a show is on.

Seminole Heights · $ · pizza, italian american, italian

Cappy's calls itself 'Tampa's favorite pizza joint since 1995' and works out of a small room on North Florida Avenue packed with vintage signs and junk-shop decor. It opens for dinner only, from 4pm at weekends and 5pm on weekdays.

Carmine's Restaurant & Bar

Ybor City · cuban, italian, spanish, sandwiches

Carmine's has been on the corner of Seventh Avenue in Ybor City since 1948, and its own site describes it as 'a cornerstone of Ybor City for over seven decades'. The menu is the Ybor mix rather than one country's cooking ... Cuban, Italian and Spanish dishes side by side, with the Cuban sandwich and the deviled crab croquettes as the two orders it is known for. Owner Carmine Iavarone runs the room, and the site credits him with 'deep roots in the community' and decades of keeping the recipes going.

Casa Santo Stefano

Ybor City · sicilian, italian

Casa Santo Stefano is Richard Gonzmart's Sicilian restaurant, set in a former 1925 Ybor City macaroni factory a few blocks from the Columbia. Gonzmart says on the site that it 'pays fond tribute to the Sicilian food I ate every Sunday with my best friend Vincent Palori', and the kitchen calls what it cooks not just Sicilian but Tampa Sicilian. The wine, cheese, olive oil and salt are imported from family businesses in Sicily, the hand-painted backsplashes and tabletops were ordered in person from a family in Caltagirone, and the vintage photographs on the walls were lent by descendants of Tampa's founding Sicilian families. The bar side, Santo's Drinkeria, serves Sicilian street food, cocktails and wine on its own schedule.

Downtown · $ · ice cream, dessert

Chill Bros makes handcrafted small-batch ice cream in Tampa and runs scoop shops around the city, including Water Street, Ybor City, South Howard Avenue, Bay to Bay Boulevard and a counter inside Armature Works. The brothers behind it keep a run of vegan flavours on the board alongside the dairy ones, made with oat milk and coconut cream rather than as an afterthought, which is why Visit Tampa Bay puts it on its plant-based list. The Water Street shop is a short walk from the Riverwalk and Sparkman Wharf.

Cigar City Brewing

West Tampa

Cigar City Brewing is named for Ybor City's cigar industry and has brewed on West Spruce Street since 2009. Its own site calls the Spruce Street brewery and taproom 'CCB's home base since batch number one', and says the beers are 'steeped in the unique culture and history of Tampa'. Jai Alai IPA, the beer it is best known for, takes its name from the Basque game the Ybor and West Tampa social clubs played. The taproom pours exclusive draft beer inside the working brewery and has its own food menu.

Cigar City Cider & Mead

Ybor City

A cider and mead house in Ybor City, open since late 2014, and one of very few rooms in Tampa built around either drink. Most of what it pours is exclusive to the tasting room, and the company says its ciders and meads are made with Florida grown ingredients and are always 100 percent natural. It is unrelated to Cigar City Brewing despite the shared nickname for the district.

Citrus Park Cafe

Citrus Park · cafe, sandwiches, coffee, cuban

Citrus Park Cafe is a small morning and lunch counter on Ehrlich Road whose whole identity is its address: it sits on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail, so its regulars arrive on bicycles. It pours Peet's coffee and makes custom subs, salads, Cuban sandwiches and smoothies, and it closes at 2:30pm. It is shut Monday and Tuesday, and it posts its holiday and vacation closures on the front page rather than leaving people to find out at the door.

Columbia Cafe at the Tampa Bay History Center

Downtown · cuban, spanish

The Hernandez and Gonzmart family put a Columbia on the ground floor of the Tampa Bay History Center, so the Riverwalk has a table serving the recipes the Ybor City original has run since 1905. The patio is canopy covered and sits on the water in the Water Street neighborhood, beside the downtown arena. The menu is the family's Spanish and Cuban standards, the 1905 Salad, Cuban sandwiches, paella, ropa vieja and croquetas, with flan, churros and guava cheesecake after. Dishes are credited to founder Casimiro Hernandez Sr. and to great-grandmother Carmen Hernandez.

Columbia Restaurant

Ybor City · spanish, cuban

Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.

Common Dialect Beerworks

Seminole Heights

Common Dialect was started by husband and wife Mike and Kendra Conze on the Seminole Heights stretch of Florida Avenue. The brewery says it set out to make a colourful, welcoming room rather than another minimalist industrial one, which is how most of Tampa Bay's taprooms look. There is no kitchen; rotating food trucks park there through the week.

Coppertail Brewing Co.

Ybor City · new american, bbq

Coppertail brews inside a historic industrial building on East Second Avenue in Ybor City, a 34,000 square foot production brewery with a five vessel brewhouse and more than 1,000 barrels of fermentation capacity. The two-story Tap Room and Kitchen sits in front of it, with exposed brick and steel, a second-storey loft that looks toward downtown, and a patio. The kitchen smokes its own meats and makes its own sausages, and the taps carry Coppertail beer alongside Fallen Fruit Hard Cider and High Dive THC Seltzer. The brewery also runs tours and keeps a live music and events calendar.

Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.

Corner Bar SoHo

SoHo · bar food

Corner Bar is the casual stop across from the louder dance rooms. The official site posts a midnight close from Monday through Thursday, 3am on Friday and Saturday, and midnight on Sunday. Weekly trivia gives the room a reason to visit before the weekend crowd arrives.

Corner Club

Seminole Heights

Corner Club runs as a coffee shop and a bar out of the same room on Sligh Avenue, with drip, cold brew and espresso on one menu and beer, wine and cocktails on another, plus a short list of snacks like pretzel and PBR beer cheese and lemon garlic hummus. Cru Cellars

Palma Ceia · wine bar, small plates

Cru Cellars is a wine bar and bottle shop on South MacDill that describes itself as specialising in small-production bottles. The retail side opens earlier than the kitchen on Fridays.

Dang Dude

Channel District · $ · asian, dumplings, noodles

Dang Dude is the Asian street food counter Proper House Group runs at Sparkman Wharf, a few doors from its own Gallito Taqueria. The board is dumplings, noodles, street snacks and boba, priced as a walk-up rather than a sit-down. It comes from the same group chef Ferrell Alvarez and Chon Nguyen founded in 2013, which also runs Rooster & the Till and the Water Street pair, Ash and Alter Ego.

District South Kitchen & Craft

Virginia Park · $$ · new american, cocktails

District South sits on South Dale Mabry and tells its own origin plainly: a group of friends could not find a place in South Tampa that put quality cooking, handcrafted cocktails and a warm room together, so they built one. The room splits between cosy dining space and an outdoor patio, with a bar that the restaurant describes as the lively end of it. It publishes separate lunch, dinner, brunch, happy hour, dessert and late night menus, which is a lot of service windows for a neighbourhood restaurant.

District Tavern

Channel District · american, pub food

District Tavern is the neighborhood bar of the Channel District, a block off Channelside Drive, and it is the room downtown workers and residents use when they want a kitchen open late rather than a show. Its posted hours run from late morning to three in the morning Tuesday through Saturday, which is later than almost anything else in the district.

Open late. Go earlier if you want a calmer room.

EDGE Rooftop Cocktail Lounge

SoHo · small plates

EDGE is the calmer rooftop choice above the Epicurean Hotel. Go for cocktails, small plates, and an open-air view rather than a dance floor. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, with a 1am close on Friday and Saturday. Hotel valet is free before 7pm and costs 10 dollars after.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

The site posts no telephone number and no service hours ... reservations are the only way in.

Ebisu Sushi Shack

Seminole Heights · sushi

Ebisu Sushi Shack is a very small sushi room on North Nebraska Avenue, and it calls itself the 'Seminole Heights One & Only Original Sushi Spot'. It opens only for dinner, Tuesday through Saturday, and runs a Specials Board alongside its named rolls such as the Orange Sunrise and the Volcano. The building really is a shack, which is part of why it books out.

Eddie & Sam's N.Y. Pizza

Downtown · $ · pizza, italian

Eddie & Sam's has been selling foldable New York slices on the corner of Twiggs in downtown Tampa since 1998. The kitchen's whole argument is the water: it imports New York water for the dough, on the theory that the minerals in it are what give a New York crust its texture. The slices are wide and thin crusted, sold by the slice or the pie, and the room is the downtown lunch counter for courthouse and office workers.

Elevage SoHo Kitchen & Bar

SoHo · new american

Elevage is the restaurant inside the Epicurean Hotel on South Howard, directly across the street from Bern's Steak House, whose group helped create the hotel with Mainsail Lodging. It serves from 7 in the morning, running brunch into mid-afternoon, then a lite bites window, then dinner to 10. Valet is free before 7 PM and 10 dollars after. It was in the 2025 Florida MICHELIN Guide as Recommended and is not in the 2026 selection, so it carries no Michelin designation now.

Empamamas

Tampa Heights · cuban, empanadas

The signature is the Tampa Girl, the shop's turn on a classic Cuban sandwich, alongside tacos and street eats. The same team runs Muchachas, the Mexican stall a few doors down in the same market.

Fat Beet Farm Kitchen and Bakery

farm to table, sandwiches, bakery

Fat Beet Farm is a working farm on West Hillsborough Avenue with a kitchen and bakery on the property, founded by Jen and Tim Curci in 2013 on what they describe as a ragged piece of coastal Florida land. Vegetables are grown in greenhouses on site, cooked in the kitchen and returned to the soil: scraps go through composting and a bio-digester built with the University of South Florida that turns food waste into fertiliser slurry, with rainwater harvesting and an on-site solar grid behind the rest. The counter serves sandwiches, biscuits, fried chicken and baked goods, and the farm runs tours, workshops, markets and volunteer days. It is the only venue in the Tampa Bay area holding a MICHELIN Green Star, awarded in the 2026 statewide Florida selection.

Filipiniana Philippine Cafe

West Tampa · filipino, bakery, boba

Forbici Modern Italian

Hyde Park · $$ · italian, pizza

Forbici sits on Snow Avenue in Hyde Park Village and takes its name from the Italian word for scissors. Its own story is about a family table rather than a chef: sharing meals was our family's language of love, and the restaurant is meant to put guests at that table. Practically, it runs Italian food and pizza with handcrafted cocktails and live entertainment through the week, opening at 10 for weekend service. There is a second Forbici at 183 2nd Ave N in St. Petersburg, which is Pinellas and out of scope for this property.

Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.

Front Porch Grille & Bart's Tavern

Seminole Heights · american, seafood, pizza

Front Porch Grille has been on North Florida Avenue since 2002, which makes it one of the longest-running independent restaurants in Seminole Heights. It works out of a converted two-storey bungalow, the kind of house the neighbourhood is built from, with Bart's Tavern as the bar side of the same operation. Weekend service starts at 8am, so it is a breakfast room as well as a dinner one, and the kitchen keeps its own daily specials and happy hour separate from the main menu.

Gaspar's Grotto

Ybor City · american, cuban, sandwiches

HaleLife Bakery & Bistro

Palma Ceia · bakery, vegan, breakfast

The kitchen is dedicated free from gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts other than coconut, and shellfish, traced down to the manufacturer, and the company says it has had no reported reactions since opening in 2017. The board runs to beignets, cinnamon rolls, donuts, breakfast tacos, pizza and cakes. USA Today named it a top gluten free bakery in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Hank's Catfish & BBQ

$ · bbq, southern, seafood

Hank's is a barbecue and fried catfish counter on North Dale Mabry Highway in the Egypt Lake-Leto area of north Tampa, one of the few places in the city that treats the fish fryer and the smoker as equal partners. Hidden Springs Ale Works

Tampa Heights

Hidden Springs opened to the public on 18 September 2015, but the first beer was made in the garage of Josh and Jacqui Garman after Josh's mother Marsha gave them a Mr. Beer kit one Christmas. She died soon after, and the brewery still tells that story. It is family owned and run, on Franklin Street in Tampa Heights, and the tasting room is bookable. Its manifesto is printed on the site: 'Hidden Springs is a place where we abide no hatred and exist to create community, great tastes, and connections.'

Jekyll

Hyde Park

Jekyll is a hidden cocktail room in Hyde Park built on the split-personality conceit, with plush velvet seating, dim light and drinks that are as much performance as pour. The house signature, 'Lost in Translation', is brewed and smoked at the table. The soundtrack runs to nostalgic hip hop and rap rather than lounge jazz. It also runs themed high tea seatings with a full afternoon service made by its own pastry kitchen, which sell out fast. Jekyll is the sister bar to Ciro's Speakeasy, which closed in 2026.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

Jerk Hut Island Grille & Beach Club

University Area · jamaican, caribbean

It runs a Jamaican lunch buffet Monday through Friday and a Sunday brunch buffet with live reggae, alongside a full liquor bar and a separate carryout counter. On Friday nights the patio turns into a market of Tampa Bay vendors with live cooking stations that runs to midnight, and the ladies' night behind it goes to 3am. The Tampa Bay Times included Jerk Hut in its list of Tampa Bay's 25 most iconic restaurants, a list that required at least a decade in business to qualify.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

Jimbo's Pit Bar B-Q

It is a family-owned and operated business and describes itself as decades of delectable barbecue rather than anything more fashionable. That's So Tampa has written about it as a pit that has been going for over fifty years.

JoToro

Channel District · mexican, tacos

JoToro sits on the corner of Sparkman Wharf in the Channel District and describes itself as a friendly neighbourhood taco joint that happens to have a Michelin star chef. That chef is Joe Isidori, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America after his father's restaurants, cooked in Miami Beach, New York and Las Vegas, was named a StarChefs Rising Star and won the New York City Wine and Food Festival Burger Bash three times. The kitchen calls its food Fine Mexican Provisions: wood-fired tacos, knife-and-fork burritos, Mexico City style street corn and a grilled Thai watermelon feta salad, with craft margaritas and tequila flights. Visit Tampa Bay lists it for its plant-based tacos and enchiladas.

King Corona Cigars Cafe & Bar

Ybor City · cuban, sandwiches, coffee

The house also rolls its own small-batch cigars under the Dulzura Farms name. Kinjo

Hyde Park · italian, wafu italian

Kinjo opened in 2025 on South Boulevard from Eric and Adriana Fralick, the couple behind Koya and Noble Rice, serving what they call itameshi wafu Italian: 'Italian food made with Japanese sensibilities.' The room is small and the site asks for reservations, calling it 'a very intimate dining experience'. Kosen

Tampa Heights · sushi

Kosen is a twelve-seat omakase counter on West Palm Avenue in Tampa Heights, running a menu of more than twenty courses. It has held one MICHELIN star in every Florida selection since 2024 and displays the 2026 star on its own site. Rocca, another one star room, is a few doors along the same block.

Koya

Hyde Park · sushi

It is Tampa's longest-running starred restaurant, holding one MICHELIN star in every Florida selection from 2023 through 2026.

LALA Tampa

SoHo · american, french, mediterranean

LALA gives SoHo a built-in activity instead of another stand-and-talk bar. Book one of eight themed private karaoke rooms or use the open mic in the main room. Tampa hours reach 3am Thursday through Saturday, and the late-night menu runs until 2am Friday and Saturday.

This is a music venue. It is loud when a show is on.

La Segunda Bakery

V.M. Ybor · cuban, bakery

La Segunda was founded in 1915 and still bakes on North 15th Street in V.M. Ybor, just north of the Ybor City historic district. Its own site counts '110+ Years of Family Tradition' and says the business 'started in a small Ybor City bakery'. The bakery says it turns out '18,000+ Loaves Baked Daily', which is why so much of Tampa's Cuban bread, and most of the city's Cuban sandwiches, trace back to this one address. There are now several counters around Tampa Bay, but 2512 N 15th St is the original bake house.

La Teresita

West Tampa · cuban, spanish

La Teresita has been cooking Cuban food on West Columbus Drive in West Tampa for more than fifty years, run by the Capdevila family, who give their name to a page of the site and to the Capdevila Group. The kitchen opens at six in the morning, which is a West Tampa habit rather than a restaurant trend, and the site describes 'delicious homemade Cuban and Spanish dishes'. Alongside the restaurant the family runs a ballroom and a catering operation used for quinces, weddings and parties.

Late Start Brewing

Downtown · american

Late Start runs three ways out of one downtown room: locally roasted coffee and a breakfast menu with a Mexican twist in the morning, smashburgers and breakfast tacos through the day, and beer brewed on site all of it. The taps carry its own IPAs and stouts plus a rotating selection from other local and regional breweries, and there is a short wine list. Coffee service stops at 2pm on weekdays and noon at weekends.

Leon's Lobstah Shack

Ballast Point & Interbay · $$ · seafood, lobster rolls, ice cream

Leon's is a small seafood counter on Interbay Boulevard beside Ballast Point Pier and Park, looking out over Hillsborough Bay. It opened in 2024 and is built around lobster rolls served hot with butter or cold with mayonnaise, alongside locally sourced ice cream and Ybor City coffee. It closes at 8 PM and is shut on Mondays, so it is a lunch and early-dinner room rather than an evening one.

Lilac

Downtown · mediterranean

Lilac is the Mediterranean restaurant on the main floor of The Tampa EDITION on Channelside Drive, from chef John Fraser. It held one MICHELIN star in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 Florida selections, which made it one of five starred restaurants in Tampa. In the 2026 statewide selection it lost the star and stayed in the guide as a Recommended restaurant, the only Tampa venue to move down a tier that year.

Forest Hills

Lowry Parcade is a barcade on Waters Avenue whose own tagline is 'Classic Arcades. Craft Beer.' MD Oriental Market

University Area · asian, chinese, vietnamese, filipino, korean

MD Oriental Market is the large pan-Asian grocery on East Fowler that the rest of the USF food corridor shops at, with its own departments for fresh produce, live seafood, a bakery and a hot deli. The hot deli and bakery counters are why it belongs on a food list rather than only a shopping one: people come in for roast meats, mochi and custard cakes without buying groceries. Its own recipe section is organised by country, running China, India, Japan, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, which is a fair description of what the aisles carry. Local chefs and food writers named it to Creative Loafing's guide to Tampa Bay's best Asian markets.

MacDinton's Irish Pub

SoHo · irish, bar food

MacDinton's is the long-running Irish pub at the center of the South Howard crowd. It is the easy pick for soccer, football, karaoke, and a packed late finish. Current public posts show nightly specials and activity through 3am, while the official site confirms the SoHo address and phone.

Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.

The brewery has no kitchen: you bring your own food or order delivery.

Malio's Prime Steakhouse

Downtown · steak, seafood

Malio Iavarone opened Malio's in 1969, and his own site traces the kitchen back further than that, to the restaurant his immigrant parents ran from 1945. More than fifty years on it is still the room Tampa books for the night that matters, now downtown in Rivergate Tower on Ashley Drive with the river out the window. Prime steaks, seafood and cocktails, with private event space and catering on the same floor.

Meeting House

SoHo · $$ · american, burgers, diner

It belongs to Ciccio Restaurant Group, which is a Tampa company, not a national one.

Mel's Hot Dogs

University Area · $ · hot dogs, american

Mel's opened on July 3rd, 1973 at the corner of 42nd Street and Busch Boulevard, and it is still there. Mel was a Chicago musician who came to Florida with his rock band in the early 1970s, and the site tells the origin plainly: after a late night he found himself in Tampa 'craving the comfort food of his hometown: the Chicago-style hot dog,' noticed nobody in the city was selling one, and opened a stand. The Szabo family, described on the site as longtime customers spanning four generations, bought the business on September 6, 2023 and kept the recipe and the room the way they found them. Half a century in, the yellow building on Busch is the kind of place people bring their own kids back to.

Michael's Grill

Carrollwood · new american, italian, seafood

Michael's Grill has been on N Dale Mabry since 2000 and calls itself a neighborhood hidden Carrollwood gem, which is close to how Creative Loafing described it when it reviewed the place: a tiny restaurant tucked into a strip plaza off Dale Mabry that took the reviewer three turnarounds to find. Michael and Andrea Reilly opened it after years in the business, he as a chef in Miami restaurants for 14 years and she as a baker and pastry chef, and the review recorded the chef coming out of the kitchen in his whites to talk to tables while the dining room filled up. The menu is fresh New American standards with French and Italian classics behind it, run across lunch, dinner and a weekend brunch. The room has terra cotta floors and a bar that looks into a cramped kitchen.

Mise en Place

Ybor City · new american, french

Mise en Place is one of Tampa's long-standing fine dining rooms and now sits on East 8th Avenue in Ybor City after moving there, a relocation covered by the Tampa Bay Times, 83 Degrees and Creative Loafing. It has been a MICHELIN Recommended restaurant in both the 2025 and 2026 Florida selections.

Mr. Dunderbak's

University Area · german, swabian, deli, brewpub

Dunderbak's has been serving Tampa since 1974 and sits in the Oak Ramble Shopping Center on Bruce B Downs, which is a plain strip plaza and exactly the point: this is a German beer hall, brewery, deli and European market behind a strip-mall storefront. It started as one of about 30 franchise locations nationally, and co-owners James and Christina Ellis bought this one in the 1990s; the franchise folded and they turned it into a brewery with a dozen or so house beers on tap, told to That's So Tampa. The kitchen cooks from family recipes, with the potato pancakes made fresh every morning from James's Oma's recipe and the coleslaw from his mother's. Live polka plays on weekends, the beer hall room on the left seats 32 for private bookings, and the site's own parking advice is to arrive by 6pm on a Friday if you want a space.

Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.

It has been a MICHELIN Recommended restaurant in both the 2025 and 2026 Florida selections, while its Hyde Park sibling Koya holds a star.

Oak & Ola

Tampa Heights · new american

Oak & Ola is the sit-down dining room inside Armature Works, the restored streetcar warehouse on the Heights waterfront, and it takes its name from the two streets that meet outside. Executive chef Margaret LaVetty came up through China Grill in New York, Campanile in Los Angeles and Nemo in Miami Beach, started cooking in professional kitchens at 14 and finished at the California Culinary Academy at 19; around Tampa she picked up the nickname Captain of Crunch for her granola. Chef de cuisine Jaime Nava has worked the kitchen for close to a decade and writes the weekly dinner features. The menu is sourced and rewritten by season, and the room keeps a memorial to chef TJ Hoferichter, who died in 2024.

Olivia

Palma Ceia · italian

Olivia is a modern Italian restaurant on West Swann Avenue in South Tampa, describing itself as 'a modern Italian restaurant offering the authentic flavors of a traditional trattoria combined with the creative flair of a chef-inspired menu'. On Swann

Hyde Park · new american

On Swann opened on 29 May 2016 in Hyde Park Village and serves contemporary American food from a seasonal menu. The partners listed are John Cooper, Trudy Cooper, Chris Arreola, and Chris Ponte with Michelle Ponte. Ponte is the executive chef and partner: he started at Clearwater's Pepper Mill in 1991 after Johnson and Wales, then studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris on the kindness of a Pepper Mill regular and apprenticed at Taillevent.

Osteria Natalina

Palma Ceia · italian

Osteria Natalina is a dinner-only Italian room on South MacDill, open Tuesday through Sunday from 5:30 and closed Mondays. It states its hospitality position on the front page: we see our customers as invited guests to a party, and we are the hosts. It sits within a few hundred feet of Restaurant BT, The Brother and Pane Rustica, on the stretch of MacDill that has quietly become one of the denser independent runs in the city.

Oxford Exchange

Hyde Park · new american, coffee, tea

The building went up in 1891 across the street from Henry B. Plant's Tampa Bay Hotel, held an arcade of local shops from the 1920s, then sat empty for decades until the century-old brickwork was restored. Brother and sister Blake Casper and Allison Adams reopened it as Oxford Exchange on September 24, 2012, and Casper's line for how it started is that it started with a bookstore and an office. Under one roof now are the restaurant, the bookstore and shop, a coffee bar, the TeBella Tea Bar, a champagne bar, the Commerce Club membership workspace, and the OE Studio and podcast room. The design takes its cue from the old London clubs and shops, and the stated intent was a place to belong.

Its own site says the traditions are 'deeply rooted ... from our home land of Puerto Rico' and sells its own house coffee, Cafe Nenito, described as 100 percent Boricua. Phoenix Lebanese Restaurant

Temple Terrace · lebanese, middle eastern

Phoenix opened on N 56th Street in Temple Terrace in early 2025 cooking Lebanese breakfast and brunch, which is a rarer thing in Tampa than Lebanese dinner. The kitchen works saj bread on a domed griddle, thin and crisp, filled with cheese and topped with za'atar, and serves it with a house Mosaic Hummus; the same bread carries their Lebanese-style pizza. Balila, slow-cooked chickpeas with olive oil, lemon, garlic and cumin finished with pine nuts and parsley, is the heartiest thing on the menu, and the shakshuka is seasoned their own way. The owners make a point of the coffee: in Lebanon, they told That's So Tampa, offering a guest a freshly brewed cup is a ritual of friendship and respect, and they keep it.

Plant Life

plant-based, gluten-free, breakfast

Plant Life is a plant-based, gluten-free kitchen on Henderson Boulevard serving breakfast, bowls, sandwiches and prepared meals. It also supplies food at Urban Jungalow on West Cass Street, where its menu sits beside SOHO Juice Co. That relationship matters because Tampa guides often list the brands as separate restaurants without telling you that two of them can be found inside the same North Hyde Park cafe.

Psomi

North Hyde Park · greek, bakery

Psomi is a daytime Greek restaurant and bakery on North Howard Avenue, named for the Greek word for bread. Its own site puts that at the centre of the place: 'bread is the cornerstone of every meal at psomi, it's where every meal starts and how every dish is built.' The kitchen advertises itself as a seed oil free establishment and runs a small market called Parea alongside the restaurant. It has held a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand in both the 2025 and 2026 Florida selections.

Pure Kitchen

vegan, prepared foods, breakfast

Quiote Tequilaria

Hyde Park · mexican, agave spirits

Quiote is an agave-focused bar and dining room at 2109 Bayshore Boulevard, open evenings only from Wednesday through Sunday. The address matters: it is the room that was Ciro's Speakeasy and Supper Club, whose own site now carries only a farewell note. A quiote is the flowering stalk an agave sends up once in its life, which is a fair name for a tequila house.

Ramallah Market

Temple Terrace · palestinian, middle eastern, bakery

Ramallah Market has anchored N 56th Street in Temple Terrace for years as a Middle Eastern grocery with its own in-store bakery, turning out knafeh, baklava and ma'amoul alongside fresh produce and spices. In May 2026 the family that runs it opened a cafe inside the shop called Sufrat Ramallah, which translates as the table of Ramallah, serving a full traditional Palestinian breakfast spread with ingredients imported from Palestine and homemade halal dishes. The coffee comes from Barakah Beans, an Orlando Arabic coffee brand, pouring pistachio and Dubai chocolate lattes. The market's own site describes the whole thing as 'a story of tradition, family, and delicious Middle Eastern flavors.'

Its own site describes live music daily, fresh oysters at its own oyster bar and cold drinks on the water. It stays open to 1am every day and to 3am on Friday and Saturday, which is genuinely late by Tampa standards. Creative Loafing put it on its kid-friendly list because children watch for dolphins from the riverside deck.

Open late. Go earlier if you want a calmer room.

It has held one MICHELIN star in every Florida selection from 2023 through 2026, making it one of the two longest-running starred rooms in the city alongside Koya. It sits on the same short stretch of Palm Avenue as Kosen, so one block of Tampa Heights holds two of the city's four stars.

Rooster & the Till

Seminole Heights · new american

Rooster & the Till opened on North Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights in 2013, co-founded by chef Ferrell Alvarez and Chon Nguyen. Its own site tells the growth story plainly: it started as 'a 37-seat restaurant with a few induction burners' and is now 'a 72 seat, award-winning establishment.' Alvarez was a 2017 James Beard Foundation semi-finalist for Best Chef South. The restaurant has taken a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand four times, including 2026, and the menu and wine list change constantly.

SOHO Juice Co

North Hyde Park · $ · juice, acai, smoothies

SOHO Juice Co makes superfood acai bowls, smoothies, waffles and soft serve, and it now operates out of Urban Jungalow on West Cass Street rather than the South Howard Avenue address it is still listed under in older guides. TAMPA Magazine's downtown vegan and vegetarian guide describes the whole operation as entirely vegan. It trades under Everwell Hospitality.

Sa Ri One

Palma Ceia · korean, korean bbq

Sa Ri One is a Korean kitchen on West Cypress Street behind the airport industrial belt, a room its own site describes as a cozy diner-style restaurant with simple Korean decor rather than anything grand. The menu runs the full range most Tampa Korean menus skip: jok bal, or sliced steamed pig's trotter, bibim naeng myun, jajang myun, dol sot bi bim bob in the hot stone bowl, seafood pancake, galbi and a bosam section, with banchan that changes by season. There are grills in the tables, so you can order from the menu or cook marinated meat and vegetables at your seat. The Cypress Street room closed briefly during summer 2026 and was open again by late August; its current site publishes a full menu and daily hours. Creative Loafing has put it on both its list of classic Tampa restaurants and its chef-sourced guide to the city's best Asian kitchens.

Salt Shack on the Bay

Ballast Point & Interbay · seafood, caribbean, american

Salt Shack sits on Old Tampa Bay at the end of West Tyson Avenue, a few hundred feet from Hula Bay, and it is built around the view. Its own writing leans hard on sunsets, calling itself a first stop for waterfront sunset dining in Tampa. The cooking is coastal seafood with Caribbean leanings and tropical drinks. Between this and Hula Bay, Tyson Avenue is the closest thing South Tampa has to a waterfront restaurant row.

Shuffle

Tampa Heights · $ · american, bar food

Shuffle is a bar on North Tampa Street in Tampa Heights built around shuffleboard courts, with a full kitchen, six rotating taps and an outdoor stage that carries live music at least weekly. Brunch is a fixture, and the menu is straightforward bar food rather than anything precious. Creative Loafing lists it as a place families can actually use, because the backyard gives children somewhere to be while the adults eat.

Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.

Skipper's Smokehouse

University Area · seafood, floribbean, smoked fish, oysters

Skipper's has been on Skipper Road north of the University area since 1980, a tin-roofed compound of weathered wood that calls itself a world class music venue and cooks Floribbean seafood to go with it. The kitchen's best known plate is the blackened grouper Reuben, which the site notes was featured on the Travel Channel's Best Sandwich in America, and there is an oyster bar alongside it. Music runs in the yard behind the restaurant, with free live music on Sunday afternoons in addition to the ticketed calendar. In January 2026 the venue announced a partnership with the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, which is an unusual pairing for a smokehouse under live oaks.

The two had lived in Ybor for more than a decade before opening the brewery there.

Soul de Cuba Cafe

Seminole Heights · cuban

There is a bar, a patio and catering for celebrations and corporate events.

Southern Luv BBQ

Citrus Park · $ · bbq, southern, cuban

Southern Luv BBQ smokes over pecan wood on Citrus Park Drive in northwest Tampa, run by founder and pitmaster Chef Essi Tadrus. His own story on the site starts with a plate of ribs at a gas station in Fort Hood, Texas at age five, where his father was stationed; he opened his first restaurant at nineteen and later brought it home to Tampa. The kitchen took second place for World's Best Cuban Sandwich at the International Cuban Sandwich Festival in Tampa, and it bottles its own Carolina gold and sweet heat sauces and bags its own kettle-cooked chips in small batches. When Hurricane Milton knocked out power, the restaurant fired the pit back up and handed out free pulled pork and mac and cheese to neighbours.

TacoSon Mexican Grill

Temple Terrace · mexican, sonoran, tacos

TacoSon cooks the food of Sonora, in northern Mexico, out of a small storefront on N 56th Street, and it opens at 7am six days a week, which is earlier than almost any taqueria in the city. Creative Loafing put it on its list of classic Tampa restaurants and described it as a family owned restaurant 'serving up authentic dishes inspired by life back in Sonora, Mexico.' The burrito panzon and the tres leches cake are the two things the restaurant puts on its own front page.

Tampa Bay Brewing Company Westchase

Westchase · brewpub, american, pub food

The Doble family founded Tampa Bay Brewing Company in 1995 and opened its first brewpub in a two-story brick building on 15th Street in Ybor City in February 1997, in a room that used to house horses. The Westchase site came in 2015 as a production brewery with a restaurant attached, tucked into a business park off Linebaugh, and it is where most of the beer is now made. The own site says it is 'still a family run company with David Doble as the leader for all operations.' Both taprooms run 24 rotating taps, a full service kitchen, and what the brewery calls large outdoor patio spaces, with a food menu built to use its own beer rather than sit next to it.

The Bricks Ybor

Ybor City · new american

The Bricks opened in 2010 at the corner of East Seventh Avenue and North 14th Street, which Ybor City also calls Avenida Republica de Cuba. It was started by a local team in partnership with the Skate Park of Tampa, and the idea was a hangout for skaters, artists and musicians rather than a bar chasing the Seventh Avenue club crowd. There are two performance spaces ... an open-air courtyard and a small Cafe Stage that overlooks the bar and the front windows ... and most shows are listed with no cover.

This is a music venue. It is loud when a show is on.

Visit Tampa Bay records 50 seats indoors and a total capacity of 150 with the outdoor space, and lists live music, gallery openings and beer and wine events as the regular calendar. The bar stays open to 1am at weekends, which in this stretch of Seminole Heights is unusual.

Open late. Go earlier if you want a calmer room.

The Liberty Smokehouse

Seminole Heights · bbq

The Liberty Smokehouse is a veteran-owned barbecue kitchen on North Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights, a few blocks up the same street from Wicked Oak. Its own site puts the military background at the centre of the place, saying that as a veteran-owned establishment it is dedicated to serving with the same pride and excellence upheld in the military. Creative Loafing's chef-sourced guide to Tampa Bay's Asian kitchens and markets lists it as a homemade tofu maker that has been at it since 2016. The catering menu is built around that, with customisable tofu and vegetarian choices for weddings and parties, and the restaurant runs a happy hour Monday through Thursday from 2 to 5pm. It closes on Tuesdays and opens at 9am the rest of the week, which makes it one of the few kitchens on this side of town serving a Vietnamese breakfast.

Three Coins Diner

Seminole Heights · american, diner, greek, breakfast

Three Coins is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, on North Nebraska Avenue at the top of Seminole Heights, and it has been doing that long enough to be the default answer to where to eat at three in the morning in Tampa. The breakfast menu runs around the clock, so late-night French toast is a normal order. Breakfast is served all day, alongside salads, sandwiches, meatloaf, pasta and chicken. The family also runs diners in St. Petersburg and Seminole, which are in Pinellas County and out of this site's scope.

Ulele

Tampa Heights · florida, seafood, new american, southern

He calls it his legacy and points out that it sits four blocks from where his family lived and about 300 yards from where he was born at St. Joseph's Hospital. The kitchen works off a ten foot barbacoa grill and builds the menu from Florida produce, seafood and other proteins, with native-inspired dishes behind the name of the Tocobaga princess Ulele. Ulele Spring Brewery operates inside the building and was the first on-site brewery in Tampa Heights, pouring Rusty Red, Water Works Pale and Hydration Station Lager.

Vuon Xoai

Westchase · vietnamese

Vuon Xoai is a Vietnamese farm, tropical nursery and restaurant on a residential street off Westchase, and the name translates as Mango Garden. From the road it reads as an ordinary block; behind it are fruit trees, thatched huts, hammocks and vintage Vietnamese scooters, and walking the grounds costs nothing. The kitchen serves whole grilled chicken, crawfish, snails, chicken feet salad, noodles, fresh sugarcane juice and coconut water, and the farm sells tropical fruit in season with mangoes usually ready in July. That's So Tampa found it in July 2026 and called it a hidden Vietnamese farm most of the city has never heard of.

WeVegan Cafe

vegan, coffee, bakery, breakfast

WeVegan Cafe sits on South Manhattan Avenue in Interbay, and its owners Sandra Carson and Effren Denson are Tampa natives who grew up in that neighbourhood. The business started because they went plant based and could not find a vegan cookie they actually enjoyed, so they worked on their own recipe until they had one they loved. They sold the first batch at a farmer's market in November 2017, which grew into a wholesale business supplying vegan cookies and breads to coffee shops and delis around the bay, then an online retail operation when Covid hit the restaurant industry, and finally this cafe. It serves craft coffee, homemade baked goods and hot and grab-and-go breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

West Tampa Sandwich Shop

West Tampa · cuban, sandwiches

The West Tampa Sandwich Shop calls itself the "Home of the original honey cuban sandwich", and the honey is the local argument: a Cuban sandwich of ham, roast pork, pickles and mustard with honey added, pressed on fresh Cuban bread. It opens at six in the morning and closes at three in the afternoon, six days a week, which is a working West Tampa schedule rather than a restaurant one. It sits on North Armenia Avenue in the middle of West Tampa, the other cigar-era neighbourhood, and it is one of the shops That\u0027s So Tampa puts on its list of the top Cuban sandwiches in the city.

Wicked Oak Barbeque

Seminole Heights · $ · bbq

Wicked Oak Barbeque is a counter-service barbecue restaurant on North Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights, founded in 2020 according to the structured data on its own site. TAMPA Magazine named it one of the winners of Best Barbecue in its 2026 Best Restaurants list, alongside two multi-location groups, which makes it the only single-location Tampa barbecue restaurant in that winners row.

Wright's Gourmet House

Palma Ceia · sandwiches, deli, bakery

Wright's opened on 20 April 1963, started by Marjorie and Pete Wright, who thought Tampa needed a gourmet shop. It has stayed on South Dale Mabry ever since as a counter-service deli, bakery and caterer, and it is the sandwich most long-time Tampa residents name first. Breads run to pumpernickel, rye, whole wheat, buttercrust white, onion rolls, wraps and Cuban. It closes on Sundays and shuts at 5:30 on weekdays, which tells you it is a lunch house, not a dinner one.

Wulfaven Brewing Company

Carrollwood

Joseph Lazzara and his father Santo had the idea for Wulfaven in 2017 after a combined thirty-odd years in the drinks business, secured a site in 2019, then watched Covid stall it for two years before breaking ground on Perez Drive at the end of 2021.
